On June 25, 2026, the IHK Training Center in Magdeburg hosted the specialist networking day “Basic Education as a Societal Responsibility”. The event brought together stakeholders from education, politics, the labor market, administration, social services, and academia to discuss current developments and future perspectives for basic education in Saxony-Anhalt.
The focus was primarily on work-oriented and digital basic education, as well as effective ways to better reach adults in need of basic education. Expert presentations by Prof. Dr. Ilka Koppel and Prof. Dr. Axel Plünnecke provided key insights for the subsequent discussions. Practical workshops, a panel discussion, and a “Market of Opportunities” featuring projects from Saxony-Anhalt offered space for professional exchange, new ideas, and networking. The event was accompanied by graphic recording by Verena Herbst, which visualized the key content and results. The specialist networking day impressively demonstrated the importance of collaboration between various stakeholders in strengthening basic education. The insights gained and contacts made form a valuable foundation for our continued joint efforts in Saxony-Anhalt.
